Readings and poetry are an integral part of funerals and memorial services. Funeral Celebrants are skilled in finding the right poetry and/or readings to reflect the life of your loved one.
Did your loved one have a favourite book or author? Did he/she recite poetry, have a favourite saying or a favourite song? If so, share this information with the Funeral Celebrant who may incorporate them in the Funeral Service as a true reflection of the person you are saying farewell to.
Sourcing readings and poetry
Internet searches provide an endless source of readings and poetry that you may like to include in a funeral service. Your Funeral Celebrant will also have a wealth of resource material. You will also find here, a downloadable pdf document with many verses which have been collected and/or contributed by our members over the years.
Copyright Law
It is most important to acknowledge the author of chosen works. If you reproduce the work in a Funeral booklet, ensure that you have permission and acknowledge the copyright owner. In the case of many older works which are anonymous or the author is unknown, it is acceptable to use such writings, but this should be acknowledged by use of the words Anonymous or Author unknown.
