No two people are alike and therefore no two funerals are the same. I will work with you to ensure that each service conveys the special qualities and characteristics of the person who has passed away to generate a fitting and memorable tribute to their life. I will go to great lengths to ensure your personal choices are considered and honoured.
My aim is to offer a bespoke service that is as individual and unique as the person whose life is being remembered.
I am led completely by my Client and work to the advice of the funeral arranger. I believe the client/funeral arranger relationship is at the heart of delivering a professional ceremony, which will be remembered and cherished by family and friends. I will meet you before the funeral to discuss, in detail, the ceremony that you want and you will be able to check the content beforehand. I will also provide a full presentation script for you to keep afterwards.
My skills to create and deliver appropriate and unique funeral ceremonies have been rigorously assessed. I have obtained a Nationally Recognised Qualification (NRQ) Cert IV in Celebrancy Services and am a member of the Funeral Celebrants Association, with over 30 years of public speaking experience.
It is one of my greatest honours to facilitate the funeral process as the funeral celebrant or memorial celebrant for families and friends who are grieving. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to hear stories and memories of fascinating people. Even the most “normal” or “average” of lives has involved something interesting. I respect this opportunity for the privilege it is.
I am a warm, calming presence at a funeral or memorial. I am always prepared to go above and beyond to create and perform a ceremony that provides the start of the healing process.
Mel's effortless kindness, understanding and compassion during the planning of our little girl's funeral helped to guide me and my husband through the fog and pain of the most devastating period of our lives. She listened, offered incredibly helpful advice and suggestions when we asked, and acted as a pillar of strength to us from the first day we met her, through the day of the funeral itself, and beyond. The love and respect that she showed towards us, our family members and, most importantly, to our precious daughter, meant so much to all of us and is something my own parents still talk about. We will always be grateful. ~ D & M, Ingham Qld
Thank you Mel for your kind and compassionate heart and service during this most difficult time. You helped my family give my late husband a beautiful and perfect goodbye! I highly recommend you to anyone needing a Celebrant! Thank you again! ~ Kelly S, Townsville Qld
A huge thank you to Melissa for the beautiful service she provided at my mother’s celebration of life early last month. She came to our house, listened to stories about my mother, and got a great sense of the person she was. We were not the easiest family to deal with as we wanted “A celebration of life that was nothing like a funeral.” I thought we might give poor Mel an aneurysm with all of our “No’s!”. But somehow she managed to write and execute a beautiful service for my mum, one I know she would have loved. Thank you, Mel for your professionalism, your patience, and your kindness throughout the entire experience. I highly recommend you to anyone looking for a celebrant. ~ Amy T, Townsville Qld
