Your capacity to love does not stop now and neither does your relationship.
It may not look familiar because your physical connection with that person has changed forever but your inner connection is still alive. Hold onto it and let it be your guide line as you navigate the unfamiliar days ahead.
Family members and your community of friends are a wonderful support and a personalised Funeral or Memorial Ceremony will become the poignant place to begin the journey forward.
We can weave some gentle hope into the day to allow you to cherish and continue with what is a timeless love connection.
Please feel free to ring me for a chat. There's no obligation, but it may help you understand how we can portray your memories and pay tribute to a wonderful life.
I look forward to hearing from you.
This beautiful poem was written by John Davies for his brother's funeral in November 2018. John has kindly agreed to it being used again. Thank you John.
The Church of the Holy Gum Tree
by John Davies
The Church of the Holy Gum Tree
A ceiling vast and open
Beyond the towering canopy
Vast blue, clear firmament
Look up and you will see
Golden light across the hills
Touches the tender leaves
That gracefully bow in homage
To the gift of the newborn day
Sacred words are written
In the squiggly patterned bark
The incense of the flowers
Is offered all around
The ancient rocky overhang
Has charcoal blackened walls
The fires of the families
Who lived here once before
A chorus of the holy
Sings a song of joy
The magpie’s voice
Is clear and bright
Its content sheer delight
No human sin, or blame or need
To explain in any way
A perfect gift
Just as it is
The nature of the heart
Very few do worship here
Indeed there’s only one
An unpretentious holy man
Lets out a loving laugh.
Now free of human artifice
Devoid of common care
If you venture carefully into his church
I’m sure you’ll find him there.
If you would like to use this poem, please remember to attribute it to John Davies. Thank you.
Thank you so much. The service certainly helped me regain a proper perspective. The day-to-day of the past seven years was such a deep overlay that the previous decades had lost a lot of their reality, no matter how much I tried to recapture them. I have happier dreams now! ~ Robin
Judy you were a wonderful celebrant for us. My brother and I have been talking about how the words you used were so considered and respectful. Mum would have liked this very much......my niece has been reading and re-reading it. And I want to thank you more but I don't quite know how. ~ Susan
Just wanted to say thank you so much for my Nan's service last week. The timeframe was more than ambitious and we appreciate how quickly you put together such a lovely service. In fact, my husband commented on how much he preferred your delivery of the eulogy as it can be quite difficult to watch family members break down while speaking. And thank you for your wonderful calming energy. ~ Jade
