Why am I a Funeral Celebrant? This is a question that I often get asked and there are a number of answers.
I want to make a difficult time in a family's lives just that little bit easier by listening to their wishes and helping to portray their loved one's personality and achievements.
I want to tell their story, by not just using a template but by writing a new ceremony for each and every person.
But the main reason I became a Funeral Celebrant is because I don't want any family to have regrets about how they say their goodbyes. I want to help them remember that person with a smile.
I was only 21 when I lost my big brother. He was only 28 and had a wife and 2 small children (6yrs & 3yrs). At his funeral at Karrakatta, the priest delivered a sermon and not once did he talk about what a wonderful man my brother was or what he had done in his short life. My brother was killed by a drunk driver. It was tragic and it was sudden. We never got to say goodbye. His funeral did not give us closure and his story was never told.
I sat in the chapel at the young age of only 21 and I thought to myself, 'One day I am going to help families say goodbye to their loved ones and I will help them to tell their loved one's story.' This why I became a Funeral Celebrant.
When I walk away from a Funeral Service I often have people come up and ask me how long I have known that person and they are always so surprised that we had never met.
My heart goes out to all the families I work with and I truly want to help every family by celebrating their loved one's life.
I have now helped over 400 families say 'goodbye' and I have worked with many different Funeral Companies including: Seasons Funerals, Mareena Purslowe, Bowra & O'Dea, Purslowe, Simplicity Funerals, Chippers, Prosser Scott and Perth Cremations.
I have also helped families with memorials for their loved ones. I have also been asked to visit at Palliative Care Hospices, hospitals and family homes to meet with their loved one before they passed away, so they could meet me before the funeral.
Hi Julie, We have read through the eulogy and we can't thank you enough for everything you have done for us! The words, putting them together to actually make sense, for helping give my Dad the send off he needs and helping make us all be able to get what we want to say out. We appreciate everything you have written, said and done. Thank you Julie you have made this difficult time become that bit less hard. With love and thanks. ~ Cassie and family

Dearest Julie There were so many tears shed but I know Mum would have been humbled and incredibly moved by the beautiful service and love filling the room.
It is hard to put onto words how important your beautiful care and support of Mark and I has been, but it is heartfelt and will remain with us always. I want to thank you so much for the time spent meeting Mum, Mark & I at Balmoral. ~ Much love and the warmest of wishes ~ Linda
