As a funeral celebrant for just over two years, I take great pride in crafting services that are as unique as the lives being honoured. No two people are the same, and I believe their farewell shouldn’t be either. I’ve had the privilege of guiding families through ceremonies for people of all ages, always with care, sincerity, and respect.
My path to this work began after experiencing the heartbreaking loss of several very close family members. I understand, deeply, how overwhelming and surreal that early time of grief can feel—and it’s my intention to walk alongside you while you plan your loved ones celebration of life, making the process less daunting.
Before becoming a celebrant, I spent many years in welfare and disability support—roles that required genuine warmth, empathy, and the ability to truly listen. Those same qualities are at the heart of the work I do now. I also spent six years as a toastmaster, and unlike most, I actually love public speaking—it’s something I’ve always felt naturally drawn to.
This role brings together all the skills and life experiences that matter most to me. I also write creatively and would be honoured to craft a personalised poem for your loved one, should you wish.
I am based in South Western Sydney, but happily travel to most areas of Sydney including Wollondilly, Camden, Bankstown, Penrith and the Sutherland Shire.
The following poem is written by me and has been appropriate to use in some of the services I have conducted:
Travelling home.
A magnificent light went out in my world
On the day you travelled home
But, I know that if I allow myself
To dream and remember
The light is in me and all around me
Sparkling for all to see.
For you demonstrated love,
Compassion and care and
Taught me to share what I now possessed
Qualities that I gained from you
A big part of my life, (my beautiful mum, friend, sister and alternative personal sentence)
Before you travelled home
I’ll be forever thankful,
For everything that you bestowed
I’ll show my gratitude always
By living in your likeness
Giving your warmth,
Your strength of character
Your enduring love and kindness,
Until I meet you again
After my travel home.
The following poem was written specifically for a man who was an avid writer, like myself. It is also an original piece of mine:
Wordsmith
A writer lives his craft
In a way that is hard to explain.
He knows that his devotion to words,
His understanding for obscure expression
Fills the deepest recesses of his mind
Somehow leaving comfort there
When little else suffices.
As a wordsmith
He shifts his words like pawns
Moving and connecting them
Until they find their rightful place
Shifting perspectives
Challenging norms
Inspiring action
If a writer has shared
The fruits of his gifts with you
He has invited you into a new paradigm
Asked you to look through his view
To love him as he is
Baring all
So that you can see him on a deeper level
Such a wondrous gift.
A gift you can hold forever
Hi Dena,

~Peter M.
I am deeply grateful for the exceptional service provided by Dena D'Antone for my Aunts funeral/celebration of life ceremony.
From the very beginning, Dena was approachable, warm, and incredibly understanding. Her kindness and genuine care made a difficult time more bearable. She met all of our requests with professionalism, integrity, and a level of empathy that truly stood out. It was clear that she was there to support us every step of the way, and I sincerely appreciate her dedication to making the ceremony meaningful and personal. Her thoughtfulness and ability to serve with such grace truly made a difference, and I would wholeheartedly recommend her to others.
Thanks again Dena.
Sincerely , ~Hilenia Z
For service of Graham in December 2024:
Everyone that attended have much gratitude and are full of appreciation for the service and your words.

Dear All,
Apologies for the delay in this email.
I wanted to thank you all for the assistance that you all provided to ensure Cameron was supported and the funeral was just right.
All feedback was so positive. Dena you were exceptional in holding the messaging and tone in such the perfect balance. Honestly, it went as well as a funeral could possibly go.
The Doves were the perfect ending and beginning all at the same time!
THANK YOU
With regards, ~Justene
