I am a funeral celebrant and social worker based in Coburg, Naarm.
I work as a Funeral Celebrant and Grief support worker through my business 'Nyx Funerals' as I believe funerals can be a fantastic way to honor a life but also assist in the grieving process.
I studied grief and loss studies through the Australian Centre of Grief and Bereavement and Phoneix Trauma Centre. This has included a variety of short courses including short contact grief support, working with children in grief and psychological first aid.
I undertook a Funeral Celebrancy certificate with Celebrant College and have done a Death Doula intensive with Zenith Virago.
My interests are working in a considered and empathetic way with families and chosen families to create a funeral ceremony that is deeply personalised, creative and reflective of the person who has died and the community they are part of.
Grief now has a beautiful new resting point. Joh’s thoughtful, warm and empathetic presence is just what I needed. It felt wonderful to share my love, memories and loss with Joh. My first session with her has given me a greater understanding of the processes of grief, and the connection between grief and love. Thank you so much Joh for your insight and compassion. I look forward to learning more with you.

Nyx is pretty special - attending a recent ceremony, it was a profound experience of quiet celebration. Joh (of Nyx) had a way of drawing all of us together while acknowledging no one person was necessarily experiencing the same feelings. There was a real sense of deep respect for the moment and Joh was warm and watchful, ably carrying and holding the space. Thank you Joh.
