I am a qualified Funeral Celebrant with experience and empathy.
I moved to Patterson Lakes in Melbourne from the UK in February 2022.
My background has been very people focused, having been a school teacher and prior to moving to Australia, running a treatment centre for people with Mental Health Issues.
I have had experience of arranging very different styles of funerals for family members, from Church and Crematorium to Meadow and Woodland Natural Burial. Each funeral required finding the essence of the loved one and ensuring that was conveyed whilst all the time being respectful and caring to those left behind.
After my husband and I moved to Australia in February 2022, I decided that I would love to use my experience to offer a very personalised service to others and completed my Funeral Celebrant Training with Rose Training Australia.
Through my work in mental health care, I understand the complexity of emotions when people are grieving and am here to help you find a way to provide the best service or memorial possible for your loved ones.
I will take the time to learn about your loved one’s life, what they cared about, what they believed in and the legacy they left behind. I will combine this with your instructions and some relevant suggestions to deliver something significant and special for you and your loved one.
My aim is to turn this sad time of loss into something that could lead to a positive emotional connection and, ultimately, a feeling of closure and peace.
At a recent funeral I conducted, the deceased lady's grandson thanked me and asked how I knew his Nan. I said that from the information I gathered at the family meeting, I had felt I knew her. He exclaimed 'Oh sorry, I thought you must have been one of her friends as you seemed to know her so well'.
